Ignite welcomes teenagers from 8th through 12th grade.  We have a passion to see this age group transition from childhood to adulthood through the teaching of God’s Word and fun interaction with each other.

Our desire is that our teens learn to seek a close relationship with Christ through the study of the Bible, prayer, and worship.  We encourage the youth to remain committed to their Godly convictions and set themselves apart from the world while loving their family and friends into the kingdom of God.

Because teenagers face real challenges in their daily lives we are available to guide and help them through these challenges.  We strive to be a loving support for the youth through counseling using Jesus Christ as our example.

God has a special plan for each one of us and we believe that spending time with other Christians helps shape and mold teens into the adults that God has designed them to be.  We are blessed to work with the youth through weekly meetings and special outings giving them time to devote to God and each other.

Ignite meets weekly during Wednesday family night from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. in the classroom building.  The youth meeting consists of worship, teaching, small groups, games, and fellowship.

Our doors and hearts are open to all teenagers beginning with teens that attend The Christian Center Church and extending to all teens in the surrounding communities.  You are invited to be a part of our group, so come out and make some new friends and have some fun!

Bill Cappalonga

Bill and his wife Sherri have been part of the Christian center for almost 30 years. They both graduated from the church’s “Chapel Christian High School.” Bill is usually the first person that you see when you attend the 10:30 service. For many years he has held the front door open for us and greeted us with a smile. Bill serves as a Deacon in the church, works every week with our teens in Ignite, and is on the regular schedule in the nursery and the Little Lambs class.

About Lorie

Lorie Barnes and her husband Ed have been attending The Christian Center since 2005 and Lorie has been serving as an Ignite Youth Leader since May of 2010.  One of her favorite Bible verses is Philippians 4:13 : “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”  Jesus Christ radically transformed Lorie’s life in March of 1996 giving her a desire to see others’ lives changed through His love and power.

Ignite is a dynamic group of teens that are in love with Jesus.  Lorie says, “Teens are at an age when they are starting to become independent and deciding why they believe what they believe. My desire is to help guide them to a deep relationship with Christ so that they can stand strong in their faith after they graduate and go out on their own.  I believe that teens have tremendous power when they pray because they are so full of dreams and expectations.”

Some things to know about Lorie:  “I love to spend time with my grandchildren; I love the snow; I love to do crafts; I love to cook; I love to take car rides; my husband is my best friend, and I have a Master’s degree in business.”

Ed and Lorie live in Monongahela and have 3 adult children: Buddy, Jenna, and Jessy, and three grandchildren: Cora, John, and Jayde.
